As reported by the Metropolitan Police and carried by The Standard, officers were called at about 7.55am on Sunday, 12 July, following reports of a stabbing at the property.

Police and paramedics found the woman inside with fatal stab injuries, and she was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts to save her.

A man in his 20s was also found outside the property with stab injuries, and police said they were awaiting an update on his condition.

Who has been arrested in the investigation?

Police arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place. According to The Standard, officers quickly found him nearby after the incident. He was taken to hospital with injuries believed to have been caused when he jumped from a window.

What have police said so far?

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said the case is a “shocking incident” that has

“tragically resulted in one woman losing her life and another man in hospital with injuries.”

He added that the victims and their loved ones are being supported by specialist officers. Police also said their enquiries are at an early stage, but they do not believe there is any wider threat to the public.

What has police asked the public to do?

The Metropolitan Police have asked anyone who saw anything, or who may have information that could assist the investigation, to contact them.

They said members of the public can call 101 and quote reference 2501/12JUL. Information can also be given anonymously through Crimestoppers. Police said residents should expect an increased presence in the area in the coming days while enquiries continue.

How has the community been affected?

The incident has raised concern among local residents in Hayes, with police acknowledging the seriousness of the case.

The presence of emergency services and the subsequent arrest have made the area the focus of an active murder investigation. Officers said specialist support is being provided to those directly affected by the stabbing.

What is the background to this development?

Uxbridge Road in Hayes is part of a west London area that has previously seen serious violent incidents, and this latest case comes amid continued police attention on knife crime in the capital.

The current investigation follows the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old woman and the injury of another man, which has led police to establish the circumstances around what happened inside and outside the property. In their statement, officers stressed that the inquiry remains in the early stages.

What could this mean for local residents?

For people living in Hayes, the immediate effect is likely to be a heavier police presence and possible road or access disruption while enquiries continue.

Residents may also see reassurance policing as officers work to gather evidence and speak to witnesses. For the wider west London audience, the case is another reminder that police continue to treat knife-related violence as a serious public safety issue.
