I’d like to ask a question to our readers, before I begin to write. ‘Has anyone of you heard about the Golden Notebook before?’
What is this Golden Notebook?
This is a notebook in which primary school-aged children in France took notes for their moral and civic education in the early and mid-20th century. However, since the 1990s, it has deviated somewhat from its original purpose, taking its place in history as a notebook used by students around the world for matters of etiquette and subjects such as the natural sciences, in which they would record unsolved questions. In fact, this method has also proved effective for individuals learning a foreign language. Additionally, interest in the habit of writing has unfortunately been steadily declining since the mid-2000s. Furthermore, this habit was seen as a waste of time, and the emergence of social media has stifled the interest in writing amongst Millennials and Generation Z.
Actually, the habit of writing is a good ability, and it has also a therapeutic effect on individuals. Nevertheless, an analysis of the general profile of today’s young people reveals a pervasive detachment from interpersonal relationships, whether with family,friends or teachers at school. As far as I can see, over the last 10 years, young people all over the world have become addicted to computer games or social media. Moreover, this addiction is not limited to that particular substance. But, this is also linked to drinking alcohol and taking drugs, as well as being bullied by your peers. In fact, young people today are losing not only their willpower in a mental sense, but also their bodies in a physical sense.
So, What Are We Losing Then?
We are losing not just our children and young people, but the next generation as well. The reason I’m writing this article because of what happened to David Wynter. He was brutally attacked with a knife in brent/wembley/">Wembley on 25 August.
When I read the news reports about the incident, it never occured to my mind that something like this could happen in London, the capital of the United Kingdom. That is the reason, why in this article, I suggest that all families get a ‘golden notebook’. This will help to protect their children from dangers that may occur in the streets of with their friends, and it will also help to keep them away from social media.
So, How Can Anyone Use This Golden Notebook?
Give your children simple tasks and ask them to write these down in this notebook; this way you’ll see more positive results from your children and strengthen communication within your family.
For example, a child should write;
“Today I washed the dishes at home. I set the table before dinner.”
(Name of the child)
Parents can check this notebook every evening before bed. If their children have done all their tasks, they can tick the boxes at the end of both sentences. At the end of the sentences, they can write their opinions like “Thank you for your efforts” to make their children feel proud.
However, once three-quarters of these tasks have been completed, a note could then be added saying: ” On behalf of the family, we would like to thank you for all your hard work, and we look forward to seeing you put even more effort into the remaining tasks.
“With Love”
Basically, this way we can protect our kids from potential dangers, uphold the ideal concept of a spouse and family within our social circle, and also set an example for other families.
This is a really important step in preventing social decay within society, and it can help stop any future violent incidents. We can call them ‘good versus evil’ or ‘class conflict’ if that helps.
Because, as I’m sure you’ll agree, none of our children will stay in the ‘child’ or ‘young person’ categories for long. In a few years, they’ll all be adults, and if we don’t take action for these young people now, this situation will end up being a threat to society as a whole in the future.
From now on, I hope that everyone is aware of the ‘Golden Notebook’. We must not forget that there should be good people in this world, so that the bad ones may learn a lesson from them. All parents must now struggle not only for their own children, but also for those children and young people who have been neglected,silenced,suppressed and manipulated into going wrong.
