During a recent four-week crackdown on crime and antisocial behaviour in Southall, police made a total of 134 arrests and seized 13 weapons, as reported by the Metropolitan Police to EALING.NEWS.
The Met confirmed that the operation ran from 13 July 2026 to 9 August 2026. This was in response to the recent surge in crime in Southall and was a direct result of the Met’s ongoing efforts to maintain law and order. It was confirmed that the weapons seized included knives.
The police crackdown was a key part of a wider operation with Ealing Council. This followed concerns raised by residents and businesses about crime and antisocial behaviour. These concerns were raised in parts of Southall.
The council has stepped up Parkguard patrols and is using CCTV as part of the operation.
Ealing Council confirmed to EALING.NEWS that Parkguard officers spoke to more than 120 people, 50 of whom were identified as having vulnerabilities, including health and housing issues.The council was unequivocal: contact with Parkguard does not equal suspicion of wrongdoing.
Offenders have also been recalled to prison as a direct consequence of this operation, the council confirmed.
Councillor Jasbir Anand, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for tackling crime and antisocial behaviour, stated:
“This work has helped identify offenders causing harm, and also vulnerable people in need of support. We will continue to take robust action against criminal and antisocial behaviour, while working with partners to make Southall a safer place for everyone.”
Superintendent Sean Lynch from the Metropolitan Police made the following statement:
“Our officers have been carrying out targeted activity in Southall. We are tackling crime and antisocial behaviour and keeping local people safe.”
“We will continue working closely with Ealing Council and other partners, using local intelligence and information from residents to focus our efforts where they can have the greatest impact.”
